Andy Smith, Ceramic Artist
Andy
Smith began his clay studies at Wingate College in 1976. He has developed
a style of raku pottery which uses traditional Oriental forms and a tight
geometrical design. The design work is both abstract and somewhat architectural
in flavor. His use of underglaze colors is uniquely his own.
Andy is an exhibiting member of the Carolina Designer Craftsmen’s Guild in Raleigh, North Carolina, and the Piedmont Craftsmen’s Guild in Winston-Salem. A full-time potter since 1983, Andy’s work is carried by galleries and interior decorators from the Virgin Islands to Boston, Massachusetts. Andy lives and works in Marshville, North Carolina.
